October 2, 2009.
If you want to consult with us on a possible voluntary disclosure of offshore bank accounts, that’s the date to focus on. We will not schedule any new consultations after that date. If you want to talk to us about your situation, please call +1-626-689-0060, ext 3 (Ellen Kenney) and schedule your consultation.
Why are we doing this?
- We are preparing amended 2008 income tax returns for a number of our amnesty clients. These must be filed by October 15, 2009. We are going to leave ourselves plenty of time to get these jobs done right.
- Our current voluntary disclosure program clients are — in some cases — in the audit process at the back end of the process. We need to work with the assigned IRS agent and the client to handle these audits properly.
- Launching a new voluntary disclosure client into the system takes a significant amount of work. So if you consult with us, then decide to hire us to take you all the way through, we need to build enough time into our lives to accomplish this.
- We have other commitments to our other clients, and we take those commitments seriously.
Let me be blunt about what is going on here, and what you should see. When is the last time you saw a law firm — or any company — turn away business? We do that. We’re picky about who we take on, and we don’t overcommit ourselves. That’s good for our clients, our sanity, and (frankly) our long-term success.
Bottom line for people who are still thinking about hiring us? Get yourself on our schedule no later than October 2, 2009.

On a personal note. Many, many thanks to the people that have consulted with us. One guy told me “That’s the best $550 I ever spent” after our telephone consultation. From my end it is a great feeling to help each of you gain some clarity on what you face, and support you as you make the decision about what to do.
